Centre culturel d'Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve

You will find on this site all the necessary information about the public cultural activities organised in Ottignies – Louvain-la-Neuve, particularly those developed by the Centre culturel d'Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve (CCOLLN).

The CCOLLN stems from the merger of the “Centre culturel et artistique d'Ottignies” (CCAO)  (created in 1976) with the “Foyer culturel” (created in 1991). From 2000 on, it has been developing the cultural policy of Ottignies -Louvain-la-Neuve. The policy is based on a trust mandate and a strong support from the City of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve. Ottignies - Louvain-la-Neuve is a city which actively plays its part of "Pôle culturel du Brabant wallon" thanks to the associations' life, the presence of the "Université catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve", of the main cultural infrastructures and operators like the "Atelier Théâtre Jean Vilar", the Museum of Louvain-la-Neuve, the "Aula Magna", the "Ferme du Biéreau", the UGC movie theatre and, soon, the Museum of Hergé.

In that context, the CCOLLN continues the missions of a cultural centre which has been approved by the "French-speaking community Wallonia-Brussels",  with the aim of spreading and attracting the “cultural pool”  at a more national and international level : artistic creation, cultural distribution, continuing education, information and assistance to the associations, co-ordination. If the realm of its action corresponds with that of the City, the quality of its programme will also attract a regional audience. Recurrent organisation of model events like the "Biennale d'Art contemporain", the "Nuit de la musique africaine", international shows… draws national and international audiences to the Centre.

The CCOLLN encourages the participation, the collaboration and the partnerships of all the participants of the "Pôle culturel".

The participation of private actors (associations and citizens), gathered together in the thematics and dynamics committees of the Cultural Council, is essential to the search of guidelines and projects, to the consideration of all the kinds of audiences, to the development of social bonds and the fight against cultural exclusion.

Co-operation with the cultural operators of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve ("Atelier Théâtre Jean Vilar", the Museum of Louvain-la-Neuve, the "Aula Magna", UCL Culture, the "Ferme du Biéreau", the "Espace Garage", Youth clubs, ….)  insures the diversity of the present-day artistic expressions as we know them. Co-operation stimulates quality and co-ordinates the cultural offer to the audiencec, but it also rationalizes the good use of equipment and shares the risks.

Finally, the partnerships with provincial operators ("Centre Culturel du Brabant wallon", Province du Brabant wallon), community operators (CDWEJ, Asspropro, ACC, ….) and national and international operators ("Festival de Wallonie", "Pianorama", festivals and agents) enable not only exchanges of information and ideas but also the movement and the export of resident artists (Julie Renson) and of cultural products ("Biennale" artistic creations, shows, projects/concepts).
